Additional salt spray chamber in REYHER’s test laboratory

The corrosion protection issue has become increasingly important in recent years. Many hazardous substances in corrosion protection coatings had to be removed and substituted. As a result, the number of necessary salt spray tests also increased significantly. We have responded to this increased testing volume by purchasing a new and larger test chamber (testing capacity of 1,028 liters) from the company Weiss Technik GmbH.

Salt spray tests, in line with ISO 9227, are used to check the corrosion resistance of a component or to verify an existing corrosion-resistant coating. The test piece is exposed to a fog of sodium chloride solution for a determined period of time. These salt spray tests cover the test items with a corrosive salt-water film.

During testing in the salt spray chambers the degree of material corrosion can be judged by the amount of white or red rust.
